Join us as Open Apple celebrates the 20th anniversary of the founding of premier Apple II programming group, Brutal Deluxe, developers of such famous games as LemminGS, The Tinies, Cogito, and Blockade; utilities including Fishhead, T40, and Convert 3200; and projects such as the Apple Cassette Archive.
In this special podcast episode, Ken interviews Brutal Deluxe members Antoine Vignau and Olivier Zardini on the group's history, what the Apple II and BBS scenes were like in France in the 1980s, how they acquired the rights and assets to popular licenses and ported them to the Apple II, their open source philosophy, and news from other French developers.

Happy birthday, Brutal Deluxe!

Excellent interview Ken. Antoine and Olivier are very well respected members of the community and it's nice to actually hear their voices and their history. A lot of great suggestions were made too, especially unifying our efforts to make 1 comprehensive 8-bit Apple site, similar to Alex Lee's brilliant IIGS website. Also, I noticed Antoine was allowed to say the "A" word! You know, the one that rhymes with Hasimov :) What's up with the special treatment, Ken? I'm not french enough for ya? :) C'est la vie.

Just finished listening this episode, really nice indeed! Next time I'd like Ken and Mike to interview in their guests' native language ;)
Antoine and Olivier talked about Minitel. Coincidentally, this service is still available but will cease to exist this week-end.

Thank you for listening, Olivier! I have three good friends whose first language is English but who are nonetheless fluent in French. I would've loved to have brought them onboard to assist in creating a French language edition of this podcast… Maybe next time!
